Cherry Slice

Oven 350˚ 8x8 pan bake 20-25 min.
A.
1 ½ c flour
2/3 c butter
3 Tbs brown sugar
B.
24 marshmallows
15 maraschino cherries cut fine
C.
Icing:
½ c butter
¾ c icing sugar
2 Tbs cold milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbs boiling water
Cream together A mixture pat in pan and bake
Melt marshmallows, stir in cherries and spread over baked layer.
Mix icing and spread over marshmallow layer and keep in the refrigerator.

  1. Thank-you Joan for the original recipe, somehow mine dropped the banana after several years. Here is a copy of how it started out:
    A. Base - 1 1/2 cup flour, 2/3 cup butter, 3 Tbsp br. sugar.
    Cream and pat into a 9 x13 pan. Bake 350 - 20 min.
    B. 24 big marshmallows, 15 marischino cherries (I do more) cut fine, 1 coarsely mashed banana. Melt marshmallows and stir in cherries and banana. Spread over the base.
    Let cool and ice.
    C. 1/2 cup butter, 3/4 cup icing sugar and cold milk. (This was your Mom's icing recipe. I make a different one. I'm not sure why I didn't make hers. Too much butter I think.
    We always enjoy these.
